About the Book

Grandmother´s Treasure is a short story written about a grandmother who finds a perfect shell on the beach near her winter home. She tells her granddaughters how "Little Shell" made the journey from birth across the ocean floor and arrived on her beach. Grandmother and the girls discuss the food chain, and why they should put live shells back in the ocean if they find them stranded on the beach. The story ends with Grandmother giving each girl a choice of the shells in her basket, so they too can hear the wind in the shell and the story of its journey in the ocean. Grandmother keeps Little Shell warm and safe in her hand because Little Shell was her treasure.
