About the Book

In America’s earliest days, distilling grain was an accepted occupation. “Moonshine” was consumed from mansions to cabins. Pioneers heading west carried jugs for social, medical and bartering purposes.

Uncontrolled bootlegging during Prohibition sometimes caused death or blindness to the consumer.

The repeal of Prohibition attracted corporate entities to again make and market alcoholic beverages.

During the Depression, women found employment at the distilleries.

Against a backdrop of corporate espionage, powerful gangsters, politicians, and prostitution, this is how Melba and Francine met and bonded for three generations.

Meet them and learn how alcohol affected all that became involved with The Distillery.
