About the Author
The author, James Fairchild born in a Chicago suburb, Elgin, grew up there and Cleveland’s east side, Euclid. James became enamored with Southern California’s climate and lifestyle while serving as a U.S. Marine and decided to make it his home after discharge. A graduate of the California University system at Fullerton, James majored in English intending one day to become a teacher. By the time he graduated, he made too much money in the manufacturing world to consider dropping back. Maybe, one day that, too, will occur. James comes from a family of child advocates. His father, Elmer a lifetime YMCA Executive, his aunt, Buella, YWCA, and his great Uncle James, an Elgin Methodist minister who was instrumental in bringing the YMCA to that area. And last child advocate, but not least, his wife Karen--the inspiration to James’ writings.
