About the Author

Author Avis Connors has previously written a charming book entitled The Mischievous Cats. The book tells the story of two striped cats, named Zeke and Rambo, who both live in the home of a minister’s family. Seeking fun, Zeke and Rambo start playing around only to find themselves in trouble, which leads to an unexpected adventure that brings them to faraway places and back again. Mystery at Fundy is her newest book and will soon be available online and in bookstores. Mrs. Connors recently earned an Associate Degree in the Liberal Arts from the Houlton Higher Education Center at the ripe old age of 86. And for the author, it has been a long time coming. Mrs. Connors never had the chance to go to college after she graduated from high school. But she never lost sight of her dream. In the fall of 2000, she began taking college courses at HHEC. Never missing a semester, the author persevered through the loss of her husband and a major back injury to complete her course. She took great pleasure in the history courses and contributed real life experiences in class that were significant in terms of historical relevance. Such that when they discussed The Great Depression, Mrs. Connors shared what it was like to live through it. This was much appreciated by her professors and fellow students. Well-loved by the community and facility, the Center recognized her extraordinary accomplishment with a celebration bringing together faculty and students. Avis Connors continues to take courses here and there, and create appealing stories for young people that celebrate the fullness and zest of life.
