About the Book

About the Book “I am Gone Like A Shadow When It Lengthens” is an excerpt from the Christian Bible. It appears in different versions of the 109th Psalm of David. The Gideon Holy Bible, Psalm 109 states in verses 23-29. “I fade away like an evening shadow; I am shaken off like a Locust. My knees give way from fasting; my body is thin and gaunt. I am an object of Scorn to my accusers, when they see me, they shake their heads. Help me O Lord my God. Save me in accordance of your love. Let them know that it is your hand, that you, O Lord have done it. They may curse, but your servant will rejoice. My accusers will be clothed with disgrace and wrapped in shame as in a cloak…” This book is dedicated in loving memory of two good friends Michael Griffith, age 23 whom died on the hand of racist youths in Howard beach. He was beaten with baseball bat, trench iron and tree stump. He was chased onto the Belt-Parkway. He was struck by oncoming cars and was killed. Wendell Innis, in his early 20’s was a life-long friend in the early 1980´s, he was said to have contracted “AIDS,” the once termed Gay Disease. He lived his life in seclusion and the family in shame for fear of retribution over their son’s sexuality. They both hailed from the twin-island nation of Trinidad & Tobago. For Michael and Wendell Victims of the Struggle, to overcome Racial and Homophobic hatred….. May you both Rest in Peace!
