About the Book

Life Is Like A Toaster is a collection of poems that were written to encourage and uplift people’s spirit. Some of the poems take a light hearted look at life while others were written to bring comfort and strength in times of adversity.

About the Author

Janet has BA degree in Sociology. She has a background in substance abuse counseling. She helped developed and was the lead counselor for a prison treatment program. She went on to help develop an Aftercare/Relapse program for clients on probation or parole. She is currently working at a shelter for domestic/sexual abuse victims. Janet is a wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoys spending time with her family, doing crafts and volunteering at a local nursing home. Janet did a creative writing group with the residents of a nursing home. The residents would decide on a topic (memories of the past or current issues) and she would help them write a poem or short story. Most of the poems were published in the local newspaper.
