About the Book

"Children will generally do what we expect of them." This quote came from a discussion involving educational achievement in the Amarillo, Texas area. There are so many negative images for children these days, a positive image and expectation was needed. This book provides that positive reinforcement for the children of the Amarillo area. The book covers a brief history of the city along with an easily understandable description of what makes the city unique today. Children learn lessons about good citizenship, appreciating diversity, achieving higher education, being a contributing member of the community, and their role in the area´s tradition of "great people doing great things."

About the Author

Dan Johnson has lived in Amarillo since 2000. He owns a financial security practice and spends much of his time volunteering with the Panhandle Assessment Center, Wildcat Bluff Nature Center, The Wesley Community Center and Los Barrios de Amarillo. Dan loves sharing quality time with his three beautiful daughters and is active at Hillside Christian Church. Dan raises his family, runs his business, and loves living…right here in Amarillo.
