DELORES H. JACKSON is a mother, Christian, Educator from Galveston, Texas. She attended Prairie View A & M University and Texas Southern where she obtained a Bachelor’s in Business and Spanish. When she moved to Morganfield as a newlywed, she attended Kentucky State, University in Murray, Kentucky. After receiving her Masters from the University of Evansville, the family moved to Evansville. While in Evansville she taught at one of the local high schools. While there she sponsored a Human Relations Club which had three sections, Computers, History and business. She took all who wanted to go on field trips to museums in Chicago, to a computer conference in Indiana, to large shopping centers and the Arch in Saint Louis, to museums and universities in Alabama and to a T. V station, Underground shopping center and museums in Atlanta. She also sponsored a dance group which required her to travel several places for performances. She wrote several grants, one for her department head, others to help students. In one of her grants, she secured up-to-date software for her school which made the entire corporation updated their equipment and software. Her club participated in the Black History Contests with other high schools and churches in the city and won several trophies for the school. She had talent and style shows and musicals at the school with both Black and White students. At the time, both races working together were only done in sports but she made it happen in her programs. She gained memorable experiences, both good and bad, while working in Evansville to the point that she will never forget the people she met and she wrote LIVING BELOW THE SNAKE LINE in memory of her professional experience there. Also, while in Evansville she obtained an Endorsement in Computers at University of Southern Indiana in Evansville. She did graduate work past Masters at Indiana State University in Terre Haute. After moving to Indianapolis, Indiana she attended Indiana Wesleyan University, and IUPUI.
