About This Book

In most cases, and with most of the people in the world, regardless where they are in the world, recognize that there is a greater authority out there somewhere. I am one of those many cases. That greater authority may have many names, shapes, ways of communication, and has many purposes for what they do. The teachings of these greater authorities may differ from place to place. As you read my little poems it will become very clear who I believe that greater Authority is, what he does, what he promises, what He teaches, and how I feel about Him.

The Prayer Poems are little prayers that I offer up to my Lord sometime during the day. The Apostle Paul stated to pray without ceasing and I find that the Lord is always on my mind, so I offer up prayers and thoughts to him constantly. These are just a few, and I want to be careful to always give the honor and glory to HIM.

About the Author

J. Michael was born in a small, rural North Carolina cotton mill town in 1950 and is the eldest of three sons. For it was soon after high school graduation, he was struck by the death of his oldest cousin in Vietnam, J. Michael then enlisted the US Army and served in Vietnam for fourteen months. In 1975 his first child was born, a beautiful daughter that he named Lori. J. Michael said this was the most beautiful name he had ever heard and if he was ever blessed with a little girl, she would bare this name. Lori was born late on a summer afternoon and he knew that she was a special child the moment that he laid eyes on her, and special she was. Ten months and eight days into her short life, Jesus called her home to be with him. This book and the very first poem are dedicated to J. Michael’s precious and heartfelt memories of her. He stated, “Instead of asking his Lord to help him understand these happenings, and asking for guidance, he made a mortal decision to combat these things himself.” After years of failing to overcome all the things that life threw at him, during this time, and being at the end of his rope J. Michael returned to his faith. Today, J. Michael lives in Tennessee where he is very active in the Church and is forever writing for and praising his beloved Lord. This book is a year and a half in the making and a confirmation of his ever-growing faith.
