About the Author

Donald and identical twin brother Ronald were born in Benson, North Carolina. Don, after two failed marriages and three beautiful daughters, followed his brother to Northern California. They camped out and mined all through different mountain ranges. As the years passed Donald met Lew(Deborah)Hereford, another goldminer and a widow with two boys. Many of the places in the book are real. The photographs were taken by Lew Hereford. Donald Whitman has published various poetry, also.
