About the Book
My story begins when I was four years old. The year was 1927. My daddy, Bill, and my mother, Lottie would never let us children eat green plums or green apples because it might give us a stomach ache. My sister, Rosie, who is four years older than me, was baby-sitting with me and my two younger sisters, Ollie, and Ruby. Rosie put me up to go down on the creek bank and get some green plums. My mother and dad, sister Lizzie, and my brother, James were, all, up on a hill working in the field, and they could see me getting the plums, but I didn't know they could. I got a lap full of the green plums, and, boy, did we ever have a party, eating all we wanted! My sister, Rosie took a hoe and dug a big hole, and buried the rest of the plums and the seeds.
