About the Author
Born Marilyn Grace Hansen, Arcadia, Nebraska, 1933. I married Walter Lauvstad in 1951. Our family includes our son, our daughter-in-law, our two granddaughters, and an elder cairn terrier. My favorite experiences have been giving nature lectures and nature walks at Will Rogers Park in Pacific Palisades, California. Throughout the years, I have lived in Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, California, Montana, Arizona, and now in Seattle, Washington. Exploring state and national parks in each of these states was family recreation. Writing poetry and attending classes with my friends has been rewarding. My husband and I share our cameras. During the ’50s, we had a camera with a Canon body and Leica lens. “The Farm” photo was black-and-white, and I colored it because color photos were so expensive then. We now use a Canon Rebel XT (digital) and a Canon PowerShot SD950 IS. I used the Canon Rebel for the “Painted Lady Butterfly” photographs. I graduated from the school of education at Drake University 1959 Des Moines, Iowa.
