About the Book

About the Author

Among the natives of North America, the only groups having hereditary royalty were in the "Old south" area. These nations were the Powhattan (everyone has heard of Princess Pocohantas), the Cherokee, creek, Choctaw, Natchez, and several others now extinct. Today, not many of the descendants of these proud people know their own history, or the fact that their Kings were chosen from among the sons of certain royal women, and trained from their youth to be both civil and religious rulers. The only such family remaining today belongs to the Cherokee people. The present Oukah, born at Muskogee, Oklahoma, Nov. 28, 1929, has lived in Dallas, Texas, for thirty years. With the Oukah (King) title (now hereditary) and the Emperor title gained before the Cherokee visit to London in 1730, the present Oukah is the highest-ranking person in America (the entire hemisphere). This unusual King ("I am something else" He readily admits) has an abundance of talent, only one of which is exhibited here with this book. His Majesty writes, sings, paints, cuts and collects gemstones, and is interested in virtually everything in life. The Oukah has been praised and grievously treated, lauded and ridiculed. "I've had it all," He says, "in great abundance. And most of it I could well have done without!" It is with great pride that we present these early works of this unsung genius. We do hope they will be well received.
