About the Book

I finally realize the Constitution is written in blood Blood of soldiers who unselfishly lay their lives on the line Time after time So you have the right to be free Free to hate each other because of your differences, Lie to one another, Bribe one another, Steal from each other, And to kill each other While we’re dying for each other.

About the Author

My name is Kenneth Preyer. I was born in Dothan, Al, on March 11, 1981. My father Leroy Preyer Jr. grew up in Memphis to the sultry sounds of jazz and blues which cultured him in art, music, and poetry. My mother Scherry C. Lawson Preyer grew up in Hartford, Al, a true southern bell cultured in southern cooking, hospitality, and the Civil Rights movement. As a child, I was a military brat, the youngest of five children. Between my mother and father we were taught many lessons in life at an early age, which ignited in me a flame. And thus began my journey as a poet. Throughout my journey, I have had heartaches as well as joys. On June 2, 2007, my daughter Adriana M. Preyer was born. She has been my inspiration; her courage and strength truly makes life worth living. Along this journey, I was fortunate to meet many incredible people who altered my views, and gift and love of poetry. I became a spoken-word artist whose messages where meant to be heard. My journey has been one of a soul lost in itself and the healing of a mind overwhelmed by matters of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I began to write down dreams, thoughts, and trials of a boy who had seemingly grown into a man, his physical, emotional, and psychological stories jotted down on whatever he could find. I’m an optimist inspired by life; I write to help inspire all who would care to read my work, to help mend broken hearts, and enlighten those left alone in the dark.
