About the Book

What is Autism? Autism is when our brains are wired differently from others. Our social and communications skills are not the same as a normal person. Having autism doesn’t mean we are not smart individuals; it just means we think quite different. There are different spectrums with having autism. Some spectrums are from having childhood disintegrative disorder, pervasive developmental disorder-not otherwise specified (PDD-NOS) and Asperger’s Syndrome (ASD). The knowledge of a child being diagnosed with autism is now more prevalent. Early diagnoses are the best diagnoses. For example, failure to diagnose a child at an early age versus when he/she turns five causes this child to miss out on valuable opportunities for development.

About the Author

Terri L. Reaves, born in Indianapolis, Indiana, is the fourth child of six children. A 1982 graduate from Arsenal Technical High School, she is a single parent of three children, two of which attend college in Indiana. Writing has always been her true calling. Terri wrote so much that she developed the infamous “writer’s bump”. She wrote numerous unpublished short stories that she shared throughout her life. Terri began taking journalism classes through the advice of her English teacher. She was raised in a Christian church with all of her siblings and sung in the church choir which was made up of mostly her siblings. At that time, another passion was born: singing. Her mother, a strong role model as a single parent, encouraged Terri greatly. Her family has always been very close-knit and humorous. Terri thanks God for her parents, her siblings, her life, as well as her children’s lives. They are truly blessed.
