About the Book

Four thousand Terran years ago, the mighty Orion Empire fell to an unseen power who, centuries before, had infiltrated that empire with Orion agents who were promised and given immortality in exchange for their services betraying their own kind. Survivors were either made slaves or consumed...as a food source.

Before the Orion capitol planet Theta fell, its Emperor convinces his seven daughters to flee and find a new world and there seek out mates in order that a remnant of their civilization may be preserved. They find such a planet and their descendants become the... Alcyoneans.

At the same time ten Orion males out-posted on Jupiter’s moon Io learn of their Empire’s demise and make their way to Earth. Five die while the others become the foundation forefathers and legends of the Greek, Toltec, Aztec,Inca and Mayan civilizations. That was four thousand years ago.

Now, with both slaves and food sources running low,it is time to move onto the protagonists’ next conquest, the Earth led Star Union. Major Michael Nelson of that Union becomes an agent (along with eight others) who,for almost two centuries, manipulates events so that the Star Union and the Royal Alliance of Alcyonean Planets will go to war with one another, weakening the two strongest powers so that his masters can move in and take the spoils. Divide and conquer is their way of subjugation.

Caught up into all of this intrigue is the main hero-character, Matt Storr, who rises to the rank of Starship Captain. His stepfather, Ambassador Victor Hennings, AKA Michael Nelson, plots to use Storr in bringing about this war with the end result being a pending Court Martial.

The story weaves its way back and forth over various time periods covering thousands of years until all lines converge in the final climatic chapter. There is murder, starship battles on a grand scale, a love affair between Storr and a Alcyonean Princess who rejects her title, and the search for a hidden Orion Starship that may hold the key to conquering that evil 250,000-year-old protagonist galactic race of cannibalistic-conquerors.

Though the story revolves around Matt Storr, in reality it is a story about all those characters within who holds the rank of: STARSHIP CAPTAIN.

About the Author

R. S. Köehler was born and raised in rural Ohio. He grew up loving Science Fiction, History and the Bible. His college degrees for the latter two testify of this love. Even though a Christian, it is not his intent to be preachy in his Starship Captain series yet he gets his Judeo-Christian message across in a most indirect manner. Fellow Christians may argue that his writings are not Christian like. However; in order to make his characters as real and as believable as possible, he had to take some secular liberties.
