About the Book

Hundreds of thousands of Woo-Woo Sisters—women who lead lives guided by rules they didn’t make, people they’ve never met, and standards someone else has set—keep searching outside themselves for the answer to who they truly are.

In The Woo-Woo Sisters’ Wee Book of Wisdom: Just Some Little Life Essentials I Wished I Had Known When, Cynthia Drew Barnes, Ph.D., writes heartfelt messages to these women. About who they really are. About the lives they were meant to live. About the men they have or hope to have in their lives. About where these women can truly find the answers to questions about why they’re here.

This book examines issues that all women struggle with: love, jobs, homes, relationships, competition, beauty. It speaks a dynamic message through a passionate voice in an effort to liberate women from their own fears.

Through poetry and story, this little book of wisdom offers guidance to women everywhere about living the lives they were truly created to live. By risking being just who they are, Woo-Woo Sisters can free themselves from living down to other people’s standards for them and embrace themselves for who they were truly meant to be.

About the Author

Cynthia Drew Barnes, Ph.D., a native of Chicago, Illinois, has spent her lifetime trying to free herself from the “would’s and should’s and could’s” that have kept her from being her authentic self. Through a series of life-altering challenges, she has finally found her voice and, in this book, used it to speak to other women who may be looking for their true selves, as well. Cynthia is mother of a 23-year-old son, whom she counts as her greatest blessing. She is also the eldest of the fourth generation of her family in this country, an occurrence that imbued her with strong roots and sturdy wings. She has spent most of her professional career as an educator, a family member, and a friend. Cynthia has traveled widely and has lived in Chicago, Atlanta, Denver, and Germany. She holds a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems and a M.A. in Organization Development from The Fielding Graduate Institute; an M.A.T. from Northwestern University; and a B.A. from the University of Illinois at Chicago. A recovering perfectionistic, workaholic, control-freak, rescuer, Cynthia hopes that some of the lessons that she has learned will speak to the hearts and souls of her fellow Woo-Woo Sisters. For all Woo-Woo Sisters everywhere, Dr. Barnes hopes that each will find the courage to be whom she was meant to be and to live the life that she was created to live.
