About the Book

In Reverse Time is a story of buried, painful emotions, missed chances and unexpected discoveries, but most of all it’s about love. Betsy Hanes Norwood, a recent widow and mother of three grown children and Jonathan Sutter, newly divorced, set out on a quest from Maine and Michigan, respectively, to confront their pasts, find out who they are now and where they belong. They went to high school together, had secret crushes on each other, but never dated. Both return to their original home in Virginia Beach, Virginia through a winding route. Jonathan spends the summer with an old army pal and his family, in Kentucky, at their Therapeutic Riding Center and helps to build a new barn for the newest members of the family, miniature horses. He becomes close to and learns about emotions, caring, compassion, forgiving, and love from eight year old Shadow. She brings fun back into his life. Something he had been missing for a long time. Betsy spent time with distant family then returned to Virginia Beach to stay with her best friend from school, Elly. She has the chance to face old demons and work through painful memories, with Elly’s help. They and a third friend, Terri, Have a wonderful time getting ready for the summer Shag Dancing Championship. The shag was a big part of their young lives. Dancing had kept Betsy sane. Alcohol had ruled their families growing up and Jonathan’s life as a young man. Betsy had made a vow to never drink. Through old letters, pictures, home movies and stories, they confront their pasts, heal old wounds, are re-united with old friends and manage to have a lot of fun along the way. Hypnosis shows Betsy that she and Jonathan had another past together. One that she couldn’t possibly remember. Through a chance meeting, they communicate over the phone and find that they had and have a lot in common, but each time they get close to coming together, they are separated as before. But it’s meant for them to meet again. The universe knows this and guides them on their journey. One that brings them together, in Florida, on a beach at sunset. Instead of being the end, this may only be the beginning.
