About the Author

Barbara Victoria Ragusa, born and raised in New Orleans Louisiana. I moved to St. Bernard Parish in 1974 when I joined the Military, lived there until September 3, 2005 when I was evacuated from Meraux, in St. Bernard Parish from the Storm named Katrina. In 1974 I moved to Jackson Barracks which separates New Orleans, Ninth Ward and St. Bernard Parish. I remained there and made it my home until 1983 where I raised my children. Captain Michael Moolekamp, My daughter Margaret Capitano, My first son Claude Moolekamp III, died in 2006. They all attended school in St. Bernard Parish and was raised in Jackson Barracks. I must say that Captain Michael Moolekamp was working since he was twelve years old and when he was in his teens was found to have saved a man’s life who had an accident and ran into a pole and the wires came down. Mike rescued the man getting him out of the car without either of them getting shocked. I knew he was going to do something to help people. My being in the military helped me get through the storm and help the people. I knew I could help and didn’t want to leave them alone. I’m glad I was there. I use to be on the Hurricane Preparedness Team so I knew what the military could do. I became a Preacher, a bodyguard and married a second time after I left the Army National Guard. Now I am an Author and Poet.
