About the Author

Iris grew up in a small village in Oxfordshire, England and came to America in 1947. There are numerous birds in England not seen here and she always enjoyed watching them. Among her favourites were sparrows, wrens, robins (much smaller than American robins) and various colourful finches. Iris and Jim married in 1966 and lived in the Boston area. They had a 16-Hole-Feeder outside the kitchen window and what a busy place it was! Blue Jays, Goldfinches and Cardinals, to mention only a few. Actually, Cardinals did not eat from the feeder but from the ground. When Iris and Jim moved to Florida, their attention changed to large birds near the lake behind the house. There were so many that they ate five loaves of bread daily. It was such fun! This inspired them a lot and now, they have this little book called, “Goosey”, named after their favourite bird.
