About the Book
When I sat down that fateful day and became a writer, I did so with two very distinctive goals. One was to bring life to The Pemberton Chess Club as well as the abundance of eclectic short stories which circulate in the depths of my brain. Two was to tailor my work for avid, yet time constrained, readers just like my wife and myself. We are just like everyone else . . . punching the clock somewhere forty hours a week while squeezing in the ballgames, birthdays, oil changes, lawn mowings, buying groceries, cooking the groceries, cleaning the mess from the cooking of the groceries . . . you get my point. Society isn’t exactly tailored for those of us who still love to kick back and immerse in the incomparable pleasures of the world of recreational reading, so I wrote my books to conform to the time constraints society has placed on most of us. Thus, I bring you the VIII Tales Series of short stories . . . a living work in progress that, so far, has produced two completed books holding sixteen stories between them. Though far from complete, the third installment is well on its way with a fourth and final envisioned for the distant future. With all due respect to my predecessors and sources of inspiration, the changing of the guard has begun. Enjoy my work and know that my deepest thanks go out to all who continue to support the fresh ideas of today’s writers.
