About the Author

Author: Mrs. Marilyn Howard wrote this story of Erl Epperson to encourage children to accept themselves as they are and strive for accomplishment, even when certain handicaps or difficulties hinder them. Children with a hormone growth syndrome might relate to the “The Little Elephant”. Illustrator: Katherine Dye has captured the elephant’s emotions as he struggles to achieve while he was small, and the joy he feels as he becomes the star of the show. Mrs. Howard presents this manuscript to be used as a picture book for young readers in classrooms and libraries. And it is her hope that El Epperson will become a childhood favorite.
