About the Book

This book of poems will take you through many stages of my life. I’ll share some of my childhood memories, which unfortunately were not usually happy. I grew up as part of a diseased family tree (my Father was an Alcoholic) and to this day I suffer the affects of that experience. I’ll then share what it was like to raise children. I was so afraid that I had not been provided the tools necessary to raise a healthy and well balanced child. I was always looking for literature on how to be a better parent. I will share with you some of my losses, some of my hopes and some of my dreams. Relationships are a big part of this book and I hope that you can relate to one or more of my personal experiences. Let me explain the Title to you. My Father was a drinker up until I was ten years old. They say that drinkers have a disease. The tree is symbolic for my Alcoholic Father. The tree is not diseased and does not look diseased, but Alcoholics don´t always look like Alcoholics. I wanted to share with you the effects that this disease can have on lives. In all my growing up years I felt like a victim, but now I feel like a survivor. I survived my childhood, raising kids, divorce, losing loved ones, losing a home, having suicidial thoughts, being depressed, being druged and raped on a date and now being over 50. I hope to be a survivor of retirement and I hope to live to the ripe old age of 99.
