About the Book

Daniel Santos confronts unscrupulous corporate executives who took over NanoCon Inc. in Upstate New York. It’s a fight against all odds. NanoCon’s CEO and board of directors had risked their money and reputations on the initial public offering—the IPO—of MAXIS-006, potentially worth billions of dollars. They will stop at nothing to achieve their goal. And Daniel knows that MAXIS is a financial fraud and a technological impossibility. He is joined by his friend Lou Capobianco and Father Damian in the struggle for social justice and the dignity of those who work with their hands. It’s a fight they can’t win. Unless fate intervenes in some unpredictable way. Unfortunately, even if miracles were allowed to happen, chances are they would be disallowed by powerful corporate interests and corrupt politicians. They control Upstate New York, and they are ruthless. Will Daniel and his friends be able to overcome the odds, or will they end up as victims of corporate villainy?

About the Author

Denis Chaves was born in Portugal and has traveled to more than sixty countries. He graduated from the University of Salamanca in Spain and completed postgraduate work in Lisbon, Portugal. He served as a lieutenant in the intelligence service of the Portuguese army in Mozambique. In the United States, he continued his studies at Southern Connecticut College, Quinnipiac College, and the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He worked at Avco Lycoming, Stratford, Connecticut, as an international marketing representative and was, for several years, vice president and general manager of MTI Instruments in Albany , New York. He now lives in Ballston Lake, New York.
