This book walks you through the process of death and dying in the tapestry of a great and courageous man. Sam‘s life sketched the bravery and dignity in which he was able to show us how to journey through his disease process in a poetic way. It not only takes you through the daily journey of Sam’s life, it also allowed you to look into the window of his family coping process. Manna from Heaven gives you a glimpse into how one family dealt with the aspect of death and dying, and reveal how each individual dealt with the emotional responses to the prospect of dying. A large part of the book is really about an individual coping with his immortality, and the honorable e and faithful way in which he was able to claim victory in the face of death. And it removed the covering, revealing the journey of his family as they tried to cope and live in the midst of his illness, rather than preparing for death. This book gives a realistic spin, by examining issues faced by the dying and their families. Such as: emotional feelings, finances, telling the truth about dying, secret desire for miracle cures. The management of pain, and not just physical pain but also, psychological pain that can affect how the dying deals with his disease. The questions, what is end- of life care? And what are advance directives? And, the various family dynamics and the difficulties that death and dying brings with it. Moreover, Issues of dying at home, funerals arrangement, bereavement; and life after death.
About the Author
Amethyst A. Nelson immigrated from St Kitts W.I. to the United States at a young age. As she embarked on a new horizon, she had several aspirations: to be a nurse, a stewardess, and to go to Hollywood to become the next Lena Horn. But as she proceeded to evolve culturally, she contemplated a career in journalism. She made a vow to herself that above all, she would write a book someday. Anyone who knew her or met her even briefly would avow that writing a book one-day was her declaration. She first obtained her LPN in high school and worked as a LPN for a number of years. She went back to school and completed a Registered Nurse program, earning an ADN Degree. Amethyst continued her scholastic excursion, which enabled her to receive a BS, Health Administration Degree in 1996. She worked in a trauma center for years as a Critical Care Nurse. She also ventured out on travel assignments as a nurse for a few years. In 1999, Amethyst established a company, NAJA Personal Care, in New York but have since relocated to Georgia and reestablished the company there. While in Georgia, she established an outreach program in a church, which conducted monthly health screenings. She currently works as a Hospice care provider. Amethyst self-published a novel a few years ago and her goal is to own her own publishing company someday soon. She is in the process of publishing her second novel and a book of poetry.
