Carl Hartstern resides in Louisville, KY, where he returned following the war. This year, 2011, finds him turning 96, but his memories are as sharp as ever. He spends his time working with the Bluegrass Chapter #146 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart where he serves as Trustee, packing boxes to send the troops with Military Missions, Inc. in Lexington, KY. Even today, his main concern is letting the troops know that we haven't forgotten them.
