About the Book
As a retired teacher and a lover of history, I found myself sitting down one day and writing just for the love of it. A Grandfather Remembers is set during the booming industrial Civil War time of Norwich, Connecticut. I was drawn to the history of the 18th Regiment of Connecticut Volunteers who fought for the Union. The 18th was composed of men from the ‘Nine Mile Square’ that once composed Norwich in its past. I wanted to share my love of local history with a look at the contributions of everyday people in difficult times.
