About the Author

Sam Munch has an extremely rich experience in writing about flying civilian and military aircraft. He has worked as an aero-design engineer, a flying instructor, evaluator and an intelligence officer. He has combat tours in both fighters (F-100) and bombers (B-52). He first studied at Clemson University. He has a degree in Aero-Space Engineering from the University of Arizona and a Masters in Management from Troy State University. He has two published short stories. One is fiction in the USAF “Combat Crew” magazine and the other non-fiction in the USAF “Flying Safety” magazine. In addition, he wrote all the pilot’s instructions for the F-102 Flight Manual. As a crash damage design engineer in the European area, he was authorized to design aircraft repairs outside normal engineering limits and flight test some of the repaired aircraft. As an intelligence officer he was tasked to study available information on Russian fighter aircraft in minute detail. His final assignment for the USAF (25 years) was as Director of Operations for a highly classified command and control, intelligence, training unit for senior officials. After retirement he worked in the Middle-East advising air forces on combat weapons, tactics and intelligence.
