This book is a guide for the creation of “Smart Schools. ” Through the use of the “Education Instructional Coaching Model, American students can display the highest levels of academic achievement. This model is based upon a set of core beliefs that include: • the major goal of educators is to inspire students to become critical thinkers and independent learners; • educators must create environments of small learning communities where a major portion of instruction is devoted to problem solving; • teachers must design student directed instruction; • educational reform is comprehensive and involves every member of the educational community; • instructional coaching which requires mutual respect between a coach and teacher is the corner stone for improving classroom instruction.
About the Author
Dr. Judith Kronin, a veteran educator and administrative leader has been instrumental in designing instructional programs that significantly increase the level of student achievement in urban and suburban school districts. She received exceptional professional training at Hofstra University, and completed her doctoral studies at Teachers College, Columbia University. After years of highly successful professional service as a science teacher, assistant principal, principal, assistant superintendent, and an interim superintendent she designed and implemented the Educational Instructional Coaching Model that enables all students attending public schools to attain a quality education. This model uses a problem-based learning approach that makes effective use of reform strategies and an instructional coaching component. Implementation of EICM will advance classroom instruction and result in effective or “smart schools.”
