About the Author

About the Author An outdoor writer whose father taught him how to follow tracks, discern animal sign, and live comfortably in the wilderness, Toby Walrath developed a passion for wildlife and wild places at a young age. With degrees in both wilderness recreation and environmental science, Toby considers the time spent in his youth learning the intricacies of nature through trapping and hunting the most infl uential part of his education. Toby has written hunting, trapping, and fi shing articles for numerous outdoor magazines around the country with the primary goal of preserving outdoor people and places through words and photographs. For over fi fteen years, he has taught trapper and hunter education classes as a volunteer for state wildlife agencies, trapping organizations, and public schools. Toby lives in Montana and enjoys the mountains year-round with his wife and son.
