About the Book

Yaya is a fi ve year old who likes playing with her friends and her younger sister. From very early on, Yaya developed a keen interest in drawing and reading. She also likes ballet, math, and violin. She enjoys growing and eating vegetables from the garden. Yaya was born with a natural sense of humor and most vibrant spirit. One evening, at bed time, she started to recite from her “new book” the “Cra’ bébé (Crybaby) Family”. Since she started mastering speech, Yaya has found pleasure in making up her own words and even language. She would deliver a full speech in an unknown language, making her sound almost mystical. “Cra’ bébé” is a made-up word for “crybaby”. This book is not about crying and wining, but about discovering early on in one’s life the many things to be happy for and the many blessings we all have.

Sylvana Maria Knapp is a five year old who likes playing with her friends and her younger sister Emilie. From very early on, Sylvana developed a keen interest in drawing and reading. She also likes ballet, math, and violin. She enjoys growing and eating vegetables from the garden. Sylvana was born with a natural sense of humor and vibrant spirit. One evening, at bed time, Sylvana started to recite from her “new book” the “Cra’bébé (Crybaby) Family”. Sylvana has a silly side that made her mother laugh hard when she heard the story of her new book. She was determined to “write” it, took some letter size paper, cut it in halves, stapled them, and started drawing the pages of the book. Sylvana lives and attends preschool in Columbia, SC.
