About the Book

Juxtaposed Darkness Poems of depression, self-injury, and the search for hope

These poems chronicle the journeys through depression, self-injury, and the possibility of hope. The poems are heavy on the darkness with hints of hope sprinkled here and there. Juxtaposed Darkness is emotions spilled onto paper. There are tears and blood drops between the lines. The journey leads to the acceptance that maybe, just maybe, there is hope. What does one do when their worst enemy is inside their head?

About the Author

Cynthia has been writing poetry since her youth. She has written under the pen name of Cindy Darkheart since 1998. Cynthia suffers from major depressive disorder and has recently began displaying symptoms of panic disorder. Self-injury has been her coping tool of choice. Writing poetry is vital to her existence. Although her work has always been dark, Cynthia is now penning traces of hope in some of her work. Unsure if she can ever gain control of her demons, Cynthia has become open to the idea of hope. Cynthia strives to let others know they are not alone. She gives thanks to God, the two Margies, Frank, Edgar, and Red Baklava / Tremell. Always be writing!
