About the Book

Eight-year-old Pola has the best job in the world: she’s queen of her very own candy store! Her parents run a special kind of confectionary that comes to life through the imagination of young Pola. But things quickly change when her dad introduces a new and exotic sugar from a far-away jungle. Pola samples the new treat before it’s ready, and ends up on a wild adventure she’ll never forget. Written as a hilarious poem, this book should be read proud and aloud! It's a story told through cleverly crafted lines, fantastic rhymes, amazing illustrations, that all come barreling full-steam ahead to an electrifying conclusion! This is the kind of story your kids will want to read over and over… and you will too.

About the Author

Kate Hayes is best known as a teacher, a traveler, and a performer of comedy. Her love for candy inspired this tale, and her love for whimsy pushed the words out in rhyme. As a child, Kate toured with a theatre company called Stage 11. They spent many years performing the words and works of children's authors like Shel Silverstein, J.M. Barrie, and Charles Schulz. She developed a unique relationship with words and was inspired to create this magical story fit for adults and children alike. Today, you can find Kate teaching English abroad to foreign language students. She was TEFL certified in Barcelona, Spain and has spent the last several months teaching in Santiago, Chile. She graduated from the University of Tampa with a BA in Communication, and her fondest memories still are from sailing around the world with Semester At Sea. This is only the first of many to come.
