About the Book

Growin’ Pains by Deshonda C. Fields is about Michelle Collins, an eighteen-year-old girl from Detroit, Michigan, who tries to balance her family and friends after her mother was killed in a tragic car accident. This left Michelle to take care of all her siblings—her three sisters and her two brothers. For her it’s hard being the oldest, but it’s even harder for her when her father is constantly unemployed. So it’s up to Michelle to save her family before it is too late.

About the Author

My name Deshonda Fields and I'm 22 years old and I'm from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I've always had a passion for writing. I wrote my first play my freshmen year of high school called "We Are Family. I then started to write my book my senior year of high school. When I began to write my book, for a while I didn't believe in myself that I could do it. But with some encouraging words from a fellow family member, my cousin Shawntell Parr Nash encouraged and motivated me to finish writing my book.
