About the Book

Ernest has talked very little about his war experience over the years. Realizing when he is gone the memory would be gone and realizing that that is true of this entire generation, we set out to document those memories. This book seeks to capture his experience as he related it to me. I will admit, my effort to get more of his personal feelings from day to day failed miserably.

About the Author

Karen Loy is the daughter-in-law of Ernest. This is her first book. She originally wrote the book to capture Ernie’s memories of World War II before it was too late. Finding there was a lot of interest in the subject, she decided to publish the book. Karen is a registered nurse, working nearly forty years before retiring.
