About the Book

My son came home from school and said he had to memorize the state capitals. It wasn’t math so I thought I might be able to help him. “Think of Florida. Lots of water to go swimming in. Does a towel has he? Tallahassee is the capital.” He made a face. I continued for 49 more. He aced the test. Twenty some years later he still remembers the crazy way he was able to remember the state capitals. Russ is the reason for this book. He thought others might find it funny and useful too. Yeah, but I never wrote it down I told him! Try it anyways he said. I thought about the words “State Capital” and heard “Stay Till the Cat Pulls Up.” Now I needed a cat pulling up in a vehicle with each state. Hmm.. Judd would be good at posing and he has lots of cars. I thought maybe each state and its capital should rhyme a little or at least have good rhythm….and I needed pictures! So, by the time it was finished it wasn’t exactly the way it went down when Russ was younger. But, I had tons of fun putting it together. Between the silly snippets and the intriguing pictures, a child you know will find memorizing the state capitals easy peasy!

About the Author

B K Pellicot was born in Annapolis, (A nap for Lissa) Maryland. She enjoys a challenge to be creative with words. Stay Till the Cat Pulls Up…In the State Capital is the result of her son suggesting she write a book that would show how she helped him to memorize the state capitals. Most of the illustrations were crafted using items from in and around her home. Judd, “the cat”, has a vast collection of vehicles and was happy to “pull up” on each page. This book is a pure delight from Mom told Granny, Alabama to Shy, shy, Anne, Wyoming.
