Plucking A "Poetic" String

About the Book

This collection, entitled Plucking a Poetic String: "Living and Loving" (with some other writings) hopefully will provide a partial glimpse of just who I am, where I have been, and what I have seen and felt along the way. In the following pages of poems (over fifty) and other writings are some of my major inspirations (starting as far back as 1977). Every encounter with people, places, and things everywhere has taught me a lot about life, and the writings have become a reflection of my experiences. All the poems and other writings complete the 2015 Legacy I volume, particularly dedicated to my family but also shared with friends, acquaintances, and others I am meeting every day. May you find some thoughts within these pages that will be meaningful enough to remind you of people, places, and things "too special to forget."

About the Author

Ora Lee Plummer is a retired professor from Southern University (2008), with experience teaching English, French, African American literature and writing seminar for many years at numerous other institutions, including Xavier Preparatory High School, Bethany Christian School, Baton Rouge Community College, Southern Illinois University, University of Illinois, San Jose State University, Chicago State University, Louisiana State University and college administrator; training/education at Southern University Laboratory High School (Baton Rouge), Xavier University (New Orleans) Southern Illinois University (Carbondale, Il), Institut Catholique (Paris), Universite d’Abidjan (Ivory Coast), Stanford University (Palo Alto, CA), University of Illinois (Urbana), Louisiana State University (Baton Rouge), Chicago State University; published other poetry collections and the writer/author of Writing For Success: A “User Friendly” Manual For Effective Communication (1998); well traveled (France, Africa, England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, Senegal, Ivory Coast, Canada [Quebec and Montreal], the Caribbean [Bahamas and Martinique], Israel [Tel Avis and Jerusalem]); and currently a writer, poet, editor, and tutor.
