"Children of the Clouds"

About the Book

Children of the Clouds is a poetic fantasy, written for children of all ages. It focuses on the power of belief but uses the power of imagination to help us develop positive self-esteem. It touches on friendship, childhood companionship, and the influence of family in helping us to believe in ourselves. It takes place in the now but also challenges our ability to understand the magic of our existence and the ways in which we depend on others to reinforce our belief system. The story of the poem encourages us to dream and to soar above accepted norms if we are to recognize the creative capacity that we all possess but which we often lose when we crave the acceptance of society.

About the Author

Hollis Lashley, affectionately called Flash by his acquaintances, holds a graduate degree in psychology and is a lifelong cultural activist. He is a performance poet, singer, writer, MC, and has been active in many multicultural festivals at the Smithsonian, Strathmore, St. Louis Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Art, Brooklyn Museum, and a host of other venues. He is an avowed student of spirituality and particularly enjoys the vibrational uplift of sacred space ceremonies and working with children of all ages. “I am in awe,” he says, “of the messages which come through me, from a place of harmony and peace. I am eternally thankful for manifesting love, which guides my affairs. He lives in Maryland with the offspring of his thyme plant and acknowledges the love of his life, who inspires him to be better today than he was yesterday.
