The night passed and less and less cars passed by, it would soon be morning. “We need to hide before dawn and Hawk starts hunting,” said Wally. Moey agreed and they crossed the road again and went back down into the gully. The sky was beginning to get lighter as dawn approached. Just before they reached the stable a shadow passed overhead, Hawk was on the hunt. “Run,” shouted Wally, “get to the stable as fast as you can.” They dashed towards the stable, Moey ducked under the door, but fat Wally got stuck, he wriggled and struggled, there was a rush of air and the flap of wings as Hawk dived towards him. Pop! Wally squeezed in just in time. Hawk flew off screeching his disappointment.

About the Book
Moey, an orphaned joey, is left stranded after his mother is knocked down on the road. Too little to survive on his own and in danger from lots of predators, he is in a race against time to find a new home.
About the Author
Gillian Sandhoff was born in the United Kingdom and now lives in Mackay, Queensland, Australia, with her husband and two boxer dogs, Rocky and Brandy. She is a wildlife carer and fosters Australian native animals who have been orphaned until they can be released back into the wild.
