The wind howled through the sails and shook the ship, tossing it over the waves. Thunder rumbled and roared as if the gods were locked in a vicious battle for the sky. Lightning lit up the pitch black ocean in flashes of white. The taste of the salty sea air caught in Captain Steve's throat as he screamed at his crew. “Get those blasted sails down! Now!” A petrified deckhand jolted back to life and into action at the sound of his captain's voice. The boat lit up again with a flash of lightning to show the deckhand slip and slide his way from the side of the ship, across the deck to the mast, ready to climb.

The crew of a ship are sailing directly into the path of an oncoming storm. Will Captain Steve be able to save them all? Will his ship sink? And what is that flash of light in the distance?
About the Author
Sophia is currently a teacher who lives in Australia. She received a Highly Commended in a writing competition in grade five. Now, as an adult, she writes for fun and to amuse her dog, Leroy, who is the only one who loves the sound of Sophia's voice.
