She stared into the mirror in her room and smiled at her curvy figure and her rose like complexion. She was so ready to smash cheerleading practise today. She applied her bright red lipstick that shimmered in the sunlight like gloss. She was confident that she’d be a better captain than Roselle Marion who she was co-captains with…unfortunately. She was wearing her black and blue cheerleading outfit, ready for it all. She walked casually out the door beaming with confidence as she said goodbye to her parents, she was an only child. She walked to school as usual and strut her way down the school hall, with some eyes on her. I guess you could say she was quite confident with herself, she was one of the most popular girl’s, yet she didn’t have a boyfriend and she wasn’t even interested in the ones intrigued by her. She headed straight to the gym for practise, she was so prepared to wreck Roselle in the routine. Whilst she opened the door to enter the gym she glimpsed red. As she entered the room she saw red everywhere. Cheerleaders were running around screaming for help and she wasn’t sure what she had walked in on but it didn’t sound good. One of the girls ran up to her.
“Oh Lauren, thank god you’re here! There’s been a murder, there’s blood everywhere and a body behind the stands!”, screamed the girl. Lauren felt shocked, there had never been a murder at Mistville High before, it was very surprising and horrid. The girl lead her out of the gym along with everyone else. Lauren had never seen so much blood in her life and now she felt scared and worried. What if she knew the killer? Where was he now? As soon as she stepped into her period two class; Chemistry she allowed her shock to really show. She felt so frightened about who it was that died, what if it was her best friend Sarah or Melissa?!
“Now class I understand that you’re all upset and freaking out and that you’re probably wondering what happened and why, well I don’t have enough details but the police are onto it”, announced their teacher Mr. Stellete with a concerned frown on his pale and tired looking face. Mr. Stellete murmured on and on about the murder, but all Lauren was focused on was something she could see at the corner of her eye, it was outside. A tree with some sharp point hanging out the side. She rubbed her eyes and looked again, it was gone. It had disappeared into thin air like it didn’t want to be seen.
“Oi, are you okay Lauren?” asked Brad Harley who sat next to her.
“Yeah, I think so”, she whispered but kept her stare out the window.
The murder got everyone talking, everyone afraid and everyone curious. The police were having discussions about it. She heard them as she walked past between classes, the police were everywhere. She overheard conversations all saying; “there were claw marks on the victim, a symbol carved into the skin and glitter sprinkled on top of the dead body”. This made Lauren wonder a lot more about what was going on. It all really interested but scared her. She wasn’t watching where she was going because she was so deep in thought which lead to her accidently shoulder budging into someone who was walking the opposite way. She stopped.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry”, she spoke as she turned to face his or her direction. It was a guy, a good looking one too. She slowly examined him as he just stared back at her. He had a sharp jawline and scruffy brunette hair.
“It’s alright I wasn’t really watching where I was going either” he kindly spoke and gleamed a shiny smile with pearly white teeth. Couldn’t really say if it was love at first sight but her only word was WOW! She smiled back and they continued walking their separate ways. She flicked her blonde hair out of her face and smiled to herself. Lauren kept seeing him in the rest of her classes throughout the day. When 3’o clock hit, she grabbed her handbag and books. She wondered to herself how she had never seen him before, maybe he was new, but she wasn’t sure. When she headed out the exit door the guy started to walk along beside her.
“Hey I didn’t catch your name, I’m Jase”, he announced giving her a dreamy look.
“I’m Lauren”, she replied with a smile as they shook hands which gave her butterflies and a flow of loving electricity, a spark ignited. His eyes were blue and no doubt gorgeous.
“Would you like to hang out sometime?”, he questioned as he smoothed back his brown hair, smiling at her.
“Yeah sure why not”, Lauren spoke. They said goodbye to each other and wandered off. Lauren brought her friends Sarah and Melissa home with her to hang out. On the way home, they stopped at the usual traffic lights at the pedestrian crossing. She yet again saw something strange behind a tree but this time she also caught sight of a gleaming purple colour, she felt so confused. Was it some sort of animal? She had no clue. She thought about it the walk home.
“That guy you were talking to Lauren, he was cute!”, exclaimed Sarah whilst giggling with Melissa.
“Mmhmm I know right. He is so my type”, hummed Lauren in admiration.
“You are so into him, aren’t you?”, asked Melissa but it was more of a statement than a question. Lauren simply nodded.
That night Lauren woke up at midnight. She looked out her window to look up at the stars but something glowed brighter than the stars, something in the woods behind her house, two glowing purple eyes that resembled human shaped eyes. She was afraid but curious, so she stood up and put on her black leggings and grey singlet on. She was about to be very daring and rebel but well that’s her.
