Career Journeys from the Ground Up

What do you want to be when you grow up? Were you asked this as a young child, a young adult or even as a working person? What happens to people after high school? What kind of career counseling did you receive? There are many twists and turns in the road to a career. There are even detours in the road and new decisions that have to be made. Fourteen people from ages 27 to 85 share their career journeys. The interview format lends itself to a clearer understanding of the winding road to a career. There are many challenges, including family, environmental, cultural, ethnic and practical challenges like income, timing and just being in the right place at the right time. The stories, the advice and the lessons learned are central to decisions that you will make on your road. The workbook provides the reader with important questions and priorities to consider along your career journey. It is based on my career counseling since 1985 with people of all stages and ages. I believe that everyone should, "Do What They Love so They Will Love What They Do." We can all learn from others' experiences, and we can create our own career journeys if we are honest, open, and flexible. Shouldn't we all be happy in what we do for a living?
