About the Book

The author contends that a review of the evolution of Imam W. Deen Mohammed’s community will provide insight into halting society's decline. Volumes I, II and III sought to chronicle the transformation of the Nation of Islam from a black, reformist organization —built by the Hon. Elijah Muhammad—into an “orthodox” Islamic community. The son, Wallace D. Mohammed (aka Imam W. Deen Mohammed), who assumed leadership after Mr. Muhammad's death, was responsible for the group's entry into "orthodox" Islam. This volume further documents the transition. Yet, the transformation cannot be seen in physical or material terms. At this point in history, it is more of a spiritual and conceptual evolution. In fact, Imam Mohammed's “community” is defined more by a particular spirit and mentality than by geography or a dogmatic doctrine. Imam Mohammed’s uniqueness is his deep understanding and application of al-Islam, which is the brick and mortar of his community. Therefore, his Islamic orientation and interpretation, which has elevated the followers as a community above all other Muslim communities, is precisely what, the author believes, will help raise fallen society.
