About the Book
The Holly Springs Collection The historic southern town located in northern Mississippi is the setting for four books. Holly Springs has five string voices who present its rich history in this series written by women whose lives span more than a century. CIVIL WAR WOMEN: The Diaries of Belle Strickland and Cora Watson From age nine to fourteen, Belle told us about the Civil War, Reconstruction and her classic education in the Watson household. With intense feelings, Belle’s teacher, Cora Watson, described her hatred of the Civil War and its disastrous impact on the South she loved. OUR PEN IS TIME: The Diary of Emma Finley A nineteen-year-old told her story of pre Civil War life on the family plantation during 1858-1859. Detailed commentary is provided by R. THE CLASS OF 1912 Inez Adams chronicled her life in a Holly Springs girl’s school, Mississippi Synodical College. She related stories as a student from 1907-1912, her days with her minister uncle and his family at the Presbyterian manse and her religious experiences in the First Presbyterian Church.
