About the Author
Mrs. Collier was a publicist in Connecticut for 20 years and moved to Natchitoches, Louisiana in 1999 where she continues to reside with her husband Bruce. While working as a publicist she promoted many different types of artists. She was the story consultant for a magazine format cable program called "Reeling Round Your Town." This program received the distinction of first place out of 1,700 entries nationwide. She has written several articles for various newspapers and wrote a six page article for a Connecticut magazine. Another of her achievements was speaking at a seminar for "Women In The Arts" at the University of Connecticut, which included only four women, all from the state of Connecticut. During the time she worked on these projects she was be able to be an at-home mom which she found very rewarding. She attends Northwestern State University of Louisiana and is a senior in Social Work, and hopes to be able to counsel youths in detention facilities upon graduation. She was chosen to be on the National Dean's List for the school year 2004-2005. As a Distinguished Member of the International Society of Poets she has received several awards. She was chosen as one of 1,200 poets internationally to contribute a poem for the book entitled "The Best Poems and Poets of 2002" which was published the following year and she was nominated as Poet of the Year for 2006. She was also asked to read one of her poems in recorded book form and was the recipient of the Editor's Choice Award for two poems in this publication entitled, "When The Sea Is Calm" and "I Am In Awe!"
