About the Book

For the son of one of the most powerful politicians in Irrianon, life is too easy.  Even in the military, assiduous care is taken to ensure both his safety and his upward career path.  It is neither his father's fault nor his own fault - it is the good bureaucrats striving mightily to prevent anything bad from happening on their watch.

Of course, a young man has dreams, often of fame and glory and courage (and getting the girl).  Coren Dorvalle's dreams are about to be fulfilled, but in a way he never imagined.

Patriot Star is the story of a nation grown soft from prosperity and lazy in its liberty, a nation that must learn again what it is like to fight and to die for freedom.  Success is not a guarantee, no matter how noble the cause.  It is the same on the planet Toryl as it is here.

About the Author

M. D. House, or Mike House, lives in Aurora, Illinois with his wife Debra and two children. His full-time day job is that of a Manager of Strategic Financial Planning for a large U.S. Corporation in downtown Chicago. He has a B.A. from Brigham Young University with a major in Economics and a minor in Political Science, and an MBA in Finance from the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young. His secondary vocation is that of aspiring author, with the view that perhaps this second career may someday supplant the first. Patriot Star is his first full-length novel and the achievement of a life goal. A sequel is in the works.
