About the Book

When my baby brother’s eyes met mine, I knew that he was to be the moon in my black, empty sky.  He tilted his head slightly and his forehead tightened around his eyes.

I caught my breath as he looked at me with recognition.

Lani’s new brother Jacob is more than she could ever imagine.  His birth begins her search through the mysteries of life, love, and returning from anywhere as long as there’s unfinished business.

Like everyone, Lani has had her share of sadness.  She thinks those times are over as she enters adulthood, finding a new kind of love with her best friend Andrew.  But is normal love enough to protect her when lightning strikes?  As Lani spends more time with Jacob, she begins to wonder what this life is and why we leave it so easily.  She also begins to wonder if we can return.

As the questions build up in Lani’s mind she realizes that things aren’t as simple as she once thought.  She begins searching with squinted eyes, afraid of what she may find but forcing herself to go forward.  Helped by Andrew, her grandfather, and those she lost long ago, Lani wades through the mysteries of true love and true life until she finds the answers she’s looking for.
