Henry F. Salerno is Professor Emeritus of English and has taught Shakespeare and dramatic literature for over twenty years. He has published numerous articles on drama and was founder and editor of the drama quarterly, Drama & Theatre. Among his published works are a translation of Moliere’s Tartuffe, an adaptation of Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard, two books, English Drama in Transition and Scenarios of the Commedia del ‘Arte, a translation of Flaminio Scala’s 1611 published repertory of the famous sixteenth century commedia dell ‘arte company, I Gelosi; included is an appendix on Shakespeare and the commedia del’arte. He has recently completed a book-length study: The Problem Play: from Shakespeare to Brecht, Man Reinventing Himself and is resuming a work-in-progress on Shakespeare and money, tentatively titled Many a Purchas’d Slave.
