About the Book
When the niece of Harry Ward is induced to join a class in modern dance, he is suspicious of the motives of the people organizing the class. It is not on the level but is a ploy to enable a small but evil band of criminals to kidnap the ten girls in the group. By making use of his shadow world friends, Harry is able to trail them to their hideout. One of the girls is the real target of the abduction and when their plans start to fall apart, the crooks take her and her close friend to a warehouse, abandoning Harry and the other girls to a disastrous fate. The girl, Alex, is the grandchild of two of the richest men in San Francisco, and they believe that they should give in to the kidnappers’ demands in order to save their granddaughter. Harry and his friend on the police force must work against them, as well as the crooks, to rescue Alex and her friend.
About the Author
Donald Elliott graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1961 with a BS in Physics. His working years were spent in nuclear and environmental research labs, and his writing then was of a technical nature. He has always been fascinated by the schemes some people use to get money without working for it. In a futile attempt to avoid being taken in himself, he keeps a file of those scams and con games. Since his retirement he likes to write thrillers telling about some of these schemes and the people who carry them out. In that process he created the lovable con man Harry Ward and his extended family.
