About the Book
The title story is about a pair of twins, a boy and a girl, who were orphaned while babies and separated, and finally adopted into different families. They grew up with no knowledge of one another. They met at college, fell in love, and married.
The other stories are greatly various as to length and subject matter, from satire, to fantasy, to adventure, to science fiction. They also contain commentary on historical events, and the author's somewhat controversial opinions on religion, astronomy, and other matters.
In his title story, about a pair of twins, a boy and girl orphaned while babies, adopted separately and growing up with no knowledge of each other, who met in college, fell in love, and were married, the author tries to illustrate the absurdity of keeping adoption records secret and confidential, and the problems that may result therefrom.
The following six stories range from love to satire (The Adversary), adventure (The Tunnel), fantasy (The City by the Sea, a fictional depiction of a Lost Atlantis), and science fiction (Far Out, the creation of a bionic couple and their attempt to fly to the moon.) Finally, a series of letters chronicling the growth of a boy into a man, his wooing of a girl, their eventual marriage, and their separate careers. She became a musician, he an airplane pilot. It describes his adventures and misadventures as a pilot and, finally, his disappearance.
About the Author
Jeremy is a retired manufacturing engineer. He was raised in Washington, D.C., from where in later years he migrated to Southern California to work in the aero-space industry. He is the father of seven children, and grandfather of "a whole flock of grandchildren." As a retiree he keeps busy at his writing and various hobbies. He lives in Michigan. This is his first published book.
